Avengers: Infinity War - Defenders appearance considered

Offshore Technology International -
Getting the Defenders into Avengers: Infinity War would have been "practically impossible", but the Russo brothers mulled it over anyway...

Avengers: Infinity War will be landing in cinemas everywhere next month, and everyone and their mum is in it - Hawkeye, put your hand down - but could there have been even more characters battling Thanos than there already are? Only always, yes.

An appearance by Netflix's Defenders, or anyone from the cast of ABC's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., was ruled out early on, as reams of red tape would've been involved in the coup, but that doesn't mean that directors the Russo brothers didn't talk it over before they settled on who was in and who was out of the massive event flick. Eventually, though, they ruled the idea out.

“We’ve all considered,” Joe Russo told Premiere, via Flickering Myth. 'But the trick is that we already have at least sixty characters with whom we must tell a story! And it’s hard enough to communicate with Taika Waititi, Ryan Coogler, Scott Derrickson, Peyton Reed and James Gunn at the same time, not to add all the showrunners and TV crews to this. The latter is also led by totally different people. So it’s practically impossible. Our job is to focus on the Marvel film world and offer a satisfying climax.”

Do you reckon Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Danny Rand, Matt Murdock or Frank Castle stand a chance of making it into the MCU in the future? It doesn't look likely, but we wouldn't put anything past these peeps - Yes, Peter. You can put your hand down now, too.

Marvel has been desperately trying to keep Infinity War as secretive as physically possible. That said, it's let a bit more out of the bag with the release of the brand new trailer, that you can see right here...

Avengers: Infinity War release date

The Avengers' third outing is scheduled for release in the UK on April 27th, 2018. The film shot back-to-back with the as-yet-untitled fourth Avengers movie, due out in 2019.

AMC Theatres has also revealed that the running time for Infinity War is - brace yourselves - 156 minutes. That is...quite long. The longest in the MCU so far, in fact.
